【 Appearance 】 This product is a colorless to slightly yellow or yellow green clear liquid.

Pharmacological effects: Kanamycin belongs to the aminoglycoside antibiotic class, with an antibacterial spectrum similar to streptomycin but slightly stronger in action. It has a strong antibacterial effect on most Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, and Pasteurella multocida, and is also sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Gram positive bacteria (excluding Staphylococcus aureus), Rickettsia, anaerobic bacteria, and fungi are resistant to this product.

Similar to streptomycin, sensitive bacteria are prone to develop resistance to kanamycin. There is cross resistance with neomycin and unidirectional cross resistance with streptomycin. Escherichia coli and other Gram negative bacteria often exhibit acquired drug resistance.

Pharmacokinetic intramuscular injection has rapid absorption, reaching peak blood drug concentration within 0.5-1.5 hours. It is widely distributed in pleural fluid, ascites, and solid organs, but rarely infiltrates saliva, bronchial secretions, and normal cerebrospinal fluid. The drug concentration in cerebrospinal fluid can increase by about twice during meningitis. The concentration is very low in bile and feces. Mainly excreted through glomerular filtration, the injection dose of 40%~80% is excreted in its original form from the urine. After a single intramuscular injection of 75mg/kg in goats, the urine concentration can reach 8300 µ g/ml. A small amount can be excreted in breast milk. After intramuscular injection of this product, the elimination half-life in horses, water buffalo, yellow cattle, dairy goats, and pigs is 2.1-2.8 hours.

[Drug Interactions] (1) There is a synergistic effect when used in combination with penicillins or cephalosporins.

(2) The antibacterial effect is enhanced in alkaline environments, and when combined with alkaline drugs such as sodium bicarbonate and aminophylline, the antibacterial efficacy can be enhanced, but the toxicity is also correspondingly increased. But when the pH exceeds 8.4, the antibacterial effect actually weakens.

(3) When used in combination with cephalosporins, dextran, potent diuretics (such as furosemide), erythromycin, etc., it can enhance the ototoxicity of this product.

(4) Skeletal muscle relaxants (such as succinylcholine chloride) or drugs with this effect can enhance the neuromuscular blocking effect of this class of drugs.

[Function and Use] Aminoglycoside antibiotics. Used for treating sepsis and urinary tract and respiratory tract infections, as well as for treating swine asthma.

[Usage and Dosage] Intramuscular injection: One dose, 0.1-0.15ml per 1kg body weight for livestock. Use twice a day for 3-5 consecutive days.

Adverse reactions: (1) Kanamycin has ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity similar to streptomycin, and its ototoxicity is stronger than streptomycin and gentamicin.

(2) Neuromuscular blockade is often caused by excessive dosage.

【 Precautions 】 (1) If there is cross allergy with other aminoglycosides, animals allergic to aminoglycosides should not be used.

(2) Use with caution when dehydrated or with impaired kidney function in affected animals.

(3) When treating urinary tract infections, taking sodium bicarbonate orally can enhance its efficacy.

(4) Cations such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, NH4+, K+can inhibit the antibacterial activity of this product.

(5) When used in combination with cephalosporins, dextran, potent diuretics, erythromycin, etc., it can enhance the ototoxicity of this product.
